Labor delivers our biggest week yet

April 15, 2010

Dear Friend,

The core belief that education is key to California’s future has helped our campaign build the strongest and broadest coalition of education, labor and public safety support. And, as we move toward Election Day, our support continues to expand by both leaps and bounds.

I was already proud to be the near consensus choice of California law enforcement groups as they agree that the key to a safer state is stronger schools. And now, our position as labor’s leading choice for Attorney General was solidified after a week of not one, not two, but three powerful labor endorsements.

See more endorsements for my campaign for Attorney General.

On Monday, I got word that the 23,000 member-strong California Faculty Association had endorsed our campaign for Attorney General. The following day, it was announced that the powerful 700,000-member strong Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California State Council had also endorsed our campaign. And, today, the 25,000 member-strong American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees District Council 57 finished off our incredible week by announcing its endorsement.

These organizations represent Californians from all walks of life, united in the belief that the time is now to stop wasting money on failed prisons and put the focus back in the classroom.

Join SEIU, CFA and AFSCME District 57 – as well as scores of other education, labor and public safety organizations – in supporting our campaign by joining me on Facebook.

And, if you are planning to attend this weekend’s California Democratic Party Convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center, please visit our campaign’s hospitality suite  – Carnaval Latino – on Saturday, April 17 from 10pm - midnight taking place at the JW Marriott Live in Room Platinum D. We will have drinks, complimentary food, festive dancers and an incredible live salsa band with members who have performed alongside Luis Miguel and Marc Anthony.

Thank you for all your continued support.

Sincerely,

Alberto Torrico
