Senator Lou Correa Endorses Alberto Torrico for Attorney General
Orange County senator is latest addition to the strongest
coalition
of support for any AG candidate
SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) announced today his endorsement of Alberto Torrico for Attorney General. Senator Correa is the latest addition to the strongest coalition of Orange County supporters of any Attorney General candidate – a group that includes Congressmember Linda Sanchez, Assemblymember Jose Solorio, Westminster School District Boardmember Sergio Contreras, Santa Ana Councilmember Vincent F. Sarmiento, Santa Ana Councilmember Michelle Martinez and Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem Claudia Alvarez.
Representing the 34th Senate District – which includes the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster – Senator Lou Correa has served his community as a member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors and as a State Assemblymember. As a product of Orange County’s public school system, California State University and the University of California, Senator Correa is dedicated to providing affordable, quality education to all Californians.
Sen. Correa is the author of the landmark bill, AB 1742, the law that eliminated the statute of limitations on rape cases in which DNA evidence identifies a suspect and requires a suspect to be prosecuted within one year. Crime Victims United of California (CVUC) named Sen. Correa Legislator of the Year.
“When Alberto Torrico is Attorney General we will have a champion that we can count on to keep our communities safe,” Correa said. “I am honored to join with public safety groups across California who agree that Alberto Torrico will make Orange County and the rest of California a better, safer place for our children.”
“I am honored to earn the support of Sen. Correa for my candidacy to become California’s next Attorney General,” said Torrico. “Sen. Correa understands what it takes to keep our communities safe and, as Attorney General, stronger public safety and improved education will be my top priority.”
That is why the 60,000-member Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the 1,400-member California Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) and the 30,000-member California Professional Firefighters (CPF) have made Alberto Torrico public safety’s choice for Attorney General.
Alberto Torrico is the Chair of the Select Committee on Prison Reform and Rehabilitation and candidate for California Attorney General.
