Los Angeles-area Senator is latest in string of influential Latino leaders
throughout California behind Torrico
SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Alex Padilla (D-Pacoima) announced today his endorsement of Alberto Torrico for Attorney General. Senator Padilla’s support follows recent endorsements from Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, Congressman Joe Baca, Senator Gil Cedillo, Senator Lou Correa, Assemblyman Juan Arambula, Assemblywoman Anna Caballero, Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, Assemblyman Tony Mendoza, Assemblyman Manuel Perez, Assemblyman Jose Solorio, Assemblywoman Norma Torres and hundreds of local Latino Mayors and elected officials.

Torrico, who has already emerged as the candidate with the strongest backing from public safety and from labor, is now becoming the leading choice of the Latino community to be California’s next Attorney General.
Representing residents of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, Senator Alex Padilla – the son of Mexican immigrants and an MIT graduate – was not only the first Latino, but also the youngest person ever elected Los Angeles City Council president. Senator Padilla was also the first Latino president of the League of California Cities, representing 478 municipalities throughout the state.
“Alberto Torrico’s tireless dedication to improving the safety of Californians by making quality education available to everyone exemplifies the leadership we need in our next Attorney General,” said Senator Padilla. “I look forward to joining the strongest coalition of education, labor, public safety and Latinos in supporting Alberto Torrico for Attorney General.”
Alberto Torrico is the author of Assembly Bill 656, Fair Share for Fair Tuition, which will raise $2 billion a year for California’s higher education system. AB 656 has garnered over 75,000 supporters through a statewide organizing drive and has over 12,000 supporters on Facebook – making it one of the most successful grassroots efforts in California’s legislative history.
